anyone know if the 930 engine has the same bolt pattern as a 336engine? flywheel bolt pattern same/336 flywheel fit on 930?

Bolt pattern is the same if the 930 is an 8 speed. 336 engine is a 4 cyl. engine, and the 401 in the 930 is a 6 cyl. It would make the 930 really short!! The 401 6 cyl into a tractor to replace the 336 would be to long and take a lot of changing to make room for it. None of the tin would fit. The manifolds would not fit the hood, and fuel pump is on the other side.

If you are considering a 30 series engine for the 780 you should be looking for a 730/830 engine. Block would be a direct bolt in. Throttle, fuel lines and exhaust would need changing. How much do you use the 780? 730/830 gas engine would fit also.

that's good info about the 8spd.,, don't really care about any other alterations, as long as I can find something that fits, your probly right about the 830 being easier, but it was a 336bdt, and it seemed like it probly need the 110hp,, although I hadn't put enough hrs. on it to really know. the gas engine would be an option also, diesel efficiency would be awesome. need to come up with something,, thank you. the flywheel that came off the 336 needs to be used on a transplant motor, as the inside of the flywheel fits the torque convertor

Trak;
You have been asking this same question for several months now and we have repeatedly told you that a 6 cylinder 401, 451, or 504 Case engine will fit into your 780.......
Your 336bdt measures 26-1/8" long. The 6 cylinder 401, 451, and 504 engines are 39-1/8" long!!!!!
You CAN NOT magically S-T-R-E-C-H your 780 frame 12-1/4" to accommodate a 6 cylinder Case engine
What part of this do you not understand?????? You have to stay with a 4 cylinder Case engine, and the only one that will develop the power that a 780 had is another 336BDT. or perhaps a 4 cylinder Cummings transplant, that will cost you Big $$$$$$
Rebuild your 336BDT.

Thanks Loren, didn't realize I was getting response, i'll check on a 830 near here. 336 block is in pieces. The crankshaft pulley butts up against a large counter weight, that could be modified/removed/weight it somewhere else, and the radiator has room to go forward, considerably, 10k for a 336 and new fiber disk in the flywheel. Disks are not that bad, and would put the existing in a 2k engine... ty Steve

You do not need a 110 HP engine to run a backhoe. When the transmission is powered with a torque converter all you need is the proper RPM's to make the converter work to move the tractor. As far as running the hydraulic pump, 60 HP should run that just fine. If someone has told you $20,000 to repair your 336 they are hosing you. I have repaired many Case engines and never spent over $3000 for parts. If you can install a 6 cyl engine in there in place of the 4 cyl you can do the engine work yourself. If your engine was completely missing Elmers Repair quite often has take outs that have been checked over for sale. You have never asked us if anyone knows of a 336 engine for sale.

Get real!!! There is no conceivable way to modify that front end to fit a 6 cyl. into that frame. The motor is part of the frame. If you lengthen the frame the loader won't clear.
