1975 Case 580B Will not Start ran good sat for a few weeks I have a little white smoke. I have cleaned up to the injector pump I do not see fuel getting to injector

Will it try to start with starting fluid?? If yes you may have water in the system or clogged fuel filters

It will start with ether I just pulled off the little cover it had some rubber in it. Have you ever pulled the top cap off ?

You Must not be getting Fuel .Yes water could cause that if it is a qualified suspect of contaminated fuel , But that is extreme. 30 yr.old fuel should fire right up... under that cap may be the trouble, i have had experience with close to 20 CASE 188 Diesel engines . one i bought not running i recall finding a stuck plunger that cap or perhaps that was a Massey combine that did that .they both have Roosa -Master pumps

The cover will come off by removing the 3 screws..
Check to see if the "metering valve" is stuck.
Depending on what mdl of pump you have, you may have a "return connector" on the top cover.
Its a spring loaded glass ball.. it gets clogged w/ the rubber you mentioned..& will shut the engine down..
That rubber is actually called, a "flex ring".. its a VERY COMMON problem..{google it}
If your machine is a PULL CABLE shut off.. try to start it w/ the cover off..
IF its an electric shut off> don't try to start it..you wont be able to shut it down.
Its gonna be messy.. the fuel is gonna splash out.. no worries tho,, if its gonna start it will..
IF the MV is free & your still not getting any fuel to the injectors, more than likely the pumping plungers inside the pump are stuck..& it requires surgery..
Actually, it requires surgery because of the broken "flex ring"..no other way to fix it, other than a complete tear-down..
Theres a couple of us on this site that do it for a living..& help out "the little guy"..

(quoted from post at 12:41:42 07/31/18) Xs two on stuck metering valve and/or rotor plungers, have an IH pump in now for the same issue..

How do I take off the pump it looks like it is a slotted shaft so it can come off Straight
