another 885 quadrant question

As received, the quadrant spring stud and nut had been moved to the front long slot. I moved it back. Went through the various select-o-matic adjustments because the Height control didn't work worth a hoot. Found the selector knob to be off a full selection, that is, when it points to Height it is in T.C.U. That is why Height control didn't work. Last adjustment was the quadrant spring. The bypass valve opens when the lever is in about the half way position in the quadrant. That's why the spring had been moved by a previous owner. Height control works well. Quadrant lever position for drop, raise and hold seem to be where they ought to be but the quadrant spring being so far forward (right at the "EX" of the word "EXTERNAL" on the decal in the black stripe) that the lever can't be moved to the rear enough to allow turning the select switch. Ideas?

One other question. The camel hump has been replaced with a thick plate where the front end loader hoses are attached. Would this plate be gasket or O-ring sealed? When the bypass opens oil runs out of one of the plates hold bolts and makes a mess.

For anyone as new as I am to the selectomatic I bumped this non-thread up. The shop manual copy I used is old. There is a link on the U.K. David Brown Tractor Clubs site the goes to an article with updated adjustments that corrects my to-far-forward quadrant.

The camel hump replacement plate has three O-rings sealing it.
