New Fenders Are On!

Hello everyone! I was able to get the new fenders mounted up and ready to go for this weekends' event I am helping the Nowthen Historical Power Association with here in Anoka, MN. They have a small display at the Riverfest, and asked if I wanted to be a part of it! Of course I would with my '41 SC! Got it all washed up and loaded, ready to go. Thought you would all just like to see some eye candy for the weekend. Still need to sell the smaller clamshell fenders I have, and put some lights on the fenders, but it is looking good! I'll be sure to take plenty of photos and video while there.

Also, next weekend I will be hitting the Root River show near Racine, MN for a few hours if anyone is interested in meeting up! Saturday morning I will be attending, but will have to be out of there by 11 or 12pm.

Enjoy!

41 SC Fender Install Video

Nice video Ken! That SC is surely a beauty. Your new fenders look suspiciously like late model D fenders. I wonder if they used the same molds for both. Don

So with the correct fenders, are you done? Are front steel rims next? LAs, early vacs and vcs have the same correct light brackets for fender mounted lights. I really is a great looking tractor. I can't keep mine that shiny. Nice work.

Thanks, Brad! I had some fun today at the local 'Riverfest' in Anoka, MN! I represented the Nowthen Historical Power Association, and it isn't too often I get to drive a tractor through the downtown part of town! Lots of fun, and we had a TON of kids stop to have their picture taken from the seat!

Had a photo opportunity at the feed mill as well. I think it turned out ok!

I think the fenders will be it. I don't really mind the cast front wheels, actually like the look of them better than the pressed steel. I do have the light brackets painted and ready. I just need to pick up new headlights. I do have the set that came on the fenders but they are in rough shape.

I may try to find an original magneto. According to the build sheet, mine came with an Edison Splitdorf magneto... It has a Case 4-JMA on it now.

Anyone know off hand what Edison mags were used on early SC Case's?

Thanks!! I have been proud of it for a while, but I have been working on some finishing touches here and there. I am afraid that I will have to open the transmission pretty soon and do some bearings. These tractors have a characteristic growl, but this one seems excessive.

There were 3 versions of fenders used on the SC/DC tractors. The first were the large clamshell with 3 ribs underneath... The mid models had smaller clamshells with two ribs underneath, and the later model were a little larger clamshell with two exposed ribs on the inside (operator's side) of the fender.

Thanks! I cut the radius on that tread brite to match the radius on the curved section of the drawbar by hand. It turned out really good, and adds a little 'flash'.

Some times if you take shims out of the bearing caps it will cause gear noise. I'd look for a bad bearing but not change the shim packs after all these years running in one spot.
