A Lot Quieter

The muffler I ordered for my 300RN came in todays mail. I ordered an oval muffler that fits an Allis Chalmers D17. It's three times quieter than the muffler that was on it. It sure makes running it a lot more enjoyable.

Can you post a picture of it Larry? Im interested.

Oh and I got the VAC carb up and running good. Didn't ream and bush it but squeezed a felt seal in around the shaft. I will probably one day order the TSX114 style Zenith carb off of ebay and try that out when
the felt seal dies. Hooked the rake up and put her in 3rd throttle open and cruised up and down the hills.

You could make a leather seal for it after the felt one gives out. If you soak the leather in oil it should last quite a while.

I'll get a picture of the new muffler Sunday when I mow the field.

Larry, I did put some oil on the felt seal but leather is a good alternative too.

Scott, I really like having the windmills around. Kind of a modern Holland. My brother came out and sat on the buddy seat for a few rounds of raking and didnt have too many complaints. It is nice to have when puttering around. How many of you guys flip up the seat and stand? I like to alternate between sitting and standing on the VAC and 300 when Im in for a long day on the tractor.

I stand every so often to give my butt a brake. Once in a while I'll drive up to the water hydrant and get a cold drink, then put in a fresh pinch of snuff, and get back at it.

Sometimes I have to alternate between sitting and standing as my knees get locked up from sitting.I don't mind them my sister inlaw has windmills on her farm in Darlington.

Isn't it ironic that when you're young you want them as loud as possible and then when you get old you want them as quiet as possible? Life is strange that way. LOL Don

I can see those windmills from my place.

(quoted from post at 20:15:29 07/14/18) L.Fure my sister inlaw has them at two different places. The stageing area was on the main farm where her husband was killed.Scott

Would that be the Lattin farm?
