Case 970 standard transmission low oil pressure

Morning...Well my project 970 is running...oil pressure is perfect in motor but the oil pressure in the transmission is reading low...
This is a standard transmission model...what pressures the transmission?? Never heard of a standard transmission being pressured before....I can understand the powershift model requiring this but am in the dark on this standard Is this talking about the pressure from the hydraulic pump that's mounted on the back of the tractor above the PTO output shaft???

The trans pressure on a 8 speed tractor is used only for PTO clutch. The pressure is adjusted higher by adding shims to the regulator spring in flow divider. If you don't use the PTO low pressure would not hurt a thing. Heavy PTO loads might slip the clutch pack if it was real low. Rod.

Well I took the flow control apart...it's been apart before as witnessed by the 2 blue...lol..shims. But the shims measure 5/16 thick in a stack. My one that was burned is way less than that....would this tend to mean the PTO clutch needs rebuilding or do I just add more shims to the regulator spring??

The pto is not the problem unless there is a difference in dash pressure with pto running and not running, i prefer to check them with a master gage installed where the brass fitting screws into the upper corner where the present dash gage line fastens, I always set the pressure to the high side of the spec, 210 LBS
