Shifter installation on DB885

My dumb. Pulled the transmission top cover over a month ago and just reinstalled it. Never made note of how things came apart. Which way does the bend in the shifter go? One way has it a fair bit up under the dash, the other has hitting the seat.

Also, I may have the shifter ball engaging the shift rails incorrectly, I don't seem to be able to find the granny side of hi and lo. The shifter only wants to move straight forward and back with a clean neutral.

My double dumb, the left hand, hi-lo shifter is the one causing confusing.

Installed it backwards. Figures. Must have looked at 100 pictures of 885's. Every last one with the shifters visible had the tall boot covering the bend. Easy fix though. Thanks.
