930 injection pump

I'm looking for any easy way to unstick or free up the rack in a 930 injection pump...any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

Sometimes, if theres room, you can take the cap off the front of the inj. pump to access the rack.
Use the open end of a 17 or 19mm wrench to unscrew it..
Having the throttle in wide open will help move the rack..
Also, bumping the starter will help..
Some racks have an open hole in the end of them.. using a pair of needle nose pliers will do..
OR screw in a METRIC screw to push & pull on.. 6x1 or 5x1, cant remember.
IF you cant get it from the front, the side cover, engine side, is the "REAL" access point..
Good luck..

I just looked at the post below & saw where the pump is not "backwards"..
so the side cover IS accessible without having to reach over the pump..
Its behind the hand primer.. 2 10mm screws{normally} or 2 metric allan headed screws.

Case 30 series have the Bosch A size pump plunger access cover toward the engine block. If the pump has set awhile, and one or more plungers are stuck tight, any attempt to move the rack won't help but most likely break the plunger gear segment teeth. Last one I had in had all the plungers stuck, and it had to come apart for a complete cleaning. Fuel housing gallery was a mess inside too.

Depends how ambitious you are. I just got done taking the pump off my son's 930 after a 20 year sleep. Have to align the timing marks before removing. Filled the fuel galley with laquer thinner and let sit a couple days. Worked the rack easy to free it up. Spun the pump with a drill to get the thinner thru the plungers. Keep replacing the thinner and it will free up. Pull the cap off the transfer pump and make sure it is clean. Third one I've done. Pump shop wanted $1100 apiece to clean and inspect. I'm sure they would tell me I did it wrong but the two 930s and the 1030 run just fine.

Thepumpguysc had the correct Case method to fix this. I just did one on a 830 last week. Its on page 336 of the Service Manual. Take the small cap off the front end of the pump which will expose the end of the control rack. You will see the screw head of a 6mm machine screw. Be careful it has some very small spacer washers on it as you remove it. Temporarily replace it with a 2 inch long 6mm so you can use a pair of small vice grips to slowly but firmly pull the control rack forward then back. I used some carb cleaner to help clear up the varnish. When you can move it freely by hand, replace the original screw and work the throttle and check to see that the rack is moving. Put the cap back on and done.

That only works on lightly stuck plungers. While it's worth a try, if just one plunger is heavily stuck, or seized in the barrel, you will do more damage than you have now if the rack is pried or beat on..
