VAC oil pressure

So I have this 1949 VAC I use to rake hay with. It has a 0-80 oil pressure gauge on it. When running it is lucky if it reads 20PSI hot or cold. So are these engine like the older A/C tractor and had low oil pressure and you have to use the correct oil filter or you have even lower pressure? I'm sure this 0-80psi gauge does not give me a real good reading and one of these days I'll replace it with one that is say a 0-30.

You have you choice:

1st pic is from service manual for VA tractors 1949 and later (generally Eagle hitch)

2nd pic is operators manual (see link, page 39) for VA tractors 1949 and earlier (generally prior Eagle hitch)

Yes I know the 80psi gauge is not the correct one for the tractor but it was on it when I got it and I only paid $300 for the tractor.

Guess I'll have to see if I have a 30 PSI gauge laying around or go buy one.

I changed mine just because it just looks better halfway up the gauge............ and old pharts like me need to see oil pressure and the amp meter looking to the + side

Believe me I am no spring chicken my self but I can say most of the tractors I own are older then I am

Even on the Racine Cases, they felt it was better to use a 0-60 gauge vs 0-80 to make it look better, as the standard full pressures were in the 35-40 range new. So I guess it was the same reasoning that Case cut that in 1/2 again to 30 for the stock gauges on the VA.
