Case o matic fluid. ATF

Hello men, there has been alot of comments on fluid for the case o matic. I have a 1966 831 diesel. I drained out the old fluid, replaced the filter and filled the system with Dexron 3 atf as alot of guys have said works well. After studying alot of posts I have noticed some guys have talked about the fiber disks in the converter possibly delaminating, this might have been on the newer tractors with shuttle shift or hydro or possibly just the rear end where the fluid is shared for everything, any thoughts, dont want to hurt anything. Thanks in advance for the help. Nick

Your com unit will be fine with atf,, as you say that concern is for the later made power shift disc's,, atf TCH or current Hy- Tran and even 10 wt oil will work fine in a com, seen them all in them, some say Hy-Tran is to thick and causes gear grind but I have yet to have a issue with that myself,, I have it in all of my equipment to use one common oil, its far above spec on many aps I put it in but for me its the only choice,,

Thanks for the info. that makes me feel alot better. I also spoke with John Saile today about a few other parts I needed for my Case 831. He also concurred as I read he actually rebuilt his converter himself and has no grind with Hytran. Something to be said for all new! Anyhow thank you for letting me know and a big thank you to John for his knowledge, parts and willingness to help. I will buy all my Case parts from him for my tractor. Just starting my restore. Thanks again for the info Case Nutty. Nick
