Case 1194 pto shaft

I put a new clutch in my 1194 case, used a pilot shaft and tried to put it together. No luck. Split the tractor to check alignment with pilot shaft seems ok. I noticed the pto shaft had pulled out when I originally split the tractor and now will go back in. checked at the back of the pto under the three point but can see nothing. Something has dropped (gear or coupling )and is preventing the shaft from going in. Please help

Sounds as if the muff coupler pin broke when you split the tractor.

Nothing was broken, I did end up having to take the rear end cover off, well backed out far enough to re connect to the coupler. I think the pto shaft came out when I split the tractor. I followed the dealers instructions regarding re-connecting the pto. I do wonder if it is possible to reconnect the pto by removing the top spindle and bearings and pushing the pto shaft back so that the connection can be made at the back ? Any thoughts ?
