Needing to take bearings off front wheels

Im needing to take off the inside bearings on the front wheels of a CC Case. They've likely been on since the 30s. Is there a trick to getting them off without ruining them?

There will be a tin retainer held on by 4 screws I believe, that holds a "seal" The outer race will now fall out, only take the inner race out if you're replacing the bearing. From the outer side of the hub, they'll be a divot in the casting allowing you to place A BRASS punch on the race and tap it out. The race is hard, a steel punch is hard, don't use a steel punch on that race. Inspect, repack or replace and adjust............. My late one was that way years and years ago. I no longer have that one

The bearings I want to take off are on another axle. The wheels aren't on it, just the rear bearings. I tried getting them off the axle with a hammer and chisel, as much as I dared, but no go.

The inner race is froze to the spindle, rust or just a tight fit. A puller on the outer race may work. Put good tension on it, and then give the puller a couple of healthy slaps with a real hammer, not your average claw hammer. Many times that jarring will start it moving, If the bearing pulls apart, then you have the inner race to deal with. A split bearing plate could then be placed behind the race and the puller reinstalled pulling on the plate. Heat on the race would work too, just the yellow Mapp gas cylinder would generate enough to expand it. There are also those times that if you can get a solid, heavy support behind it, (anvil would be ideal) you can crack the race with a good cold chisel and a couple of sharp slaps. Taps won't do it. Welding a bead around the race will expand and ease it off too.
