Removing trunion from housing on 4 wd

Is there. A trick to getting the plates
off to remove the trunion and wheel to
replace seal and wheel bearing shock I
think are bad? It looks to me like you
just use 2 1/2" bolts to push the caps out
after taking the 4 bolts that holds them
on out. I am afraid of breaking the bolts
off using to much pressure. It looks
easier than it is I think. Thanks for Nd

That's the way they come off get grade 8 bolts and might have to heat in last resort BFH will probably be needed also
 
I take the ring of 1/2" bolts out of the plantery where it bolts to the trunion and leave the trunion on the axle. Take 4 bolts out of the ujoint. If the trunion bushings are good you don't need to take the pins out. If they do need to come out take the easy one out and the trunion will come off, then you can use a press.
