Sad, Happened Again!!

A customer called & said his neighbor was scrapping for China a DI that had sat outside for 48 years. I called this AM & the p-rick said the complete engine was separated from the tractor & sitting in the back of a dumpster by the door. Manifolds were broke. They would get to the tractor chassis later. They are 75 miles from us. He said to make an offer on the engine, so I offered him $100.00, which is twice what the Chinese will pay him, but he said "$150.00 or it goes". I said "no thanks" & hung up. Really sad. Why must we pay more than the Chinese?

I ran into that too, a few times, one was a plow, I offered 100.00 for it, the kids told me we can get that from the scrapper and said that is where its going. Just as I was walking away, I turned to the little cigar and said your Dad's plow will probably live forever with a collector, and you knowing those memories would go on with the plow. He didn't get it, but his Mother has since called me and wants to talk.

I understand how you feel, but consider the seller's situation. I've held a few things back for a guy who just had to have them. It took him three weeks to show up to pick them up and then he wanted to renegotiate the price. I'll never do that again. Now cash in hand does the talking.

I've seen that all to often too. It was really bad when scrap was only worth $50 a ton. You would not believe how many adds I seen that said $500 or more or it goes to scrap and most of the things probly didn't even weight 2 ton.

John seen a lot of it to some things just don't sell or have little value so off it goes.

At $200 a ton, we are going to see a lot more of it.

My 14 year old son saved an 8 speed 970 today at a consignment auction for scrap value. All I know about it is "its painted black and really ugly". Details to come once I get it home.

Where you getting $200 a ton? My best yard is at $160 a ton .

I Get It , I am not ready to giveup and quit , But I DO have my RUNNING Massey Combines on the classified listed for 300 per ton OBO, So far i have not got a call.I would Consider a reasonable offer if anyone WOULD SIMPLY express interest.These Combines are NOT junk,they run ., Selling them at a fair price would be Gods way of telling Me to let go and Let the BTO possibly ruin My Land i have LOVED so long . i realize if i were to drop dead my kids might sell it for less to china .but for Now ,I FARM and pray that God Gives me strength and places people in my path to help us achieve something together . I have always worked to accommodate a sincere motive.I Do GET IT .especially Andes comment ,.. And John is right Why Should WE Americans pay twice what the p;rikis gonna get from china .. His children and grandchildren mite starve some day or Worse have it violently shot thru their bodies..that mite be extreme justice,but carma is carma
