Hey Pastor John, Case S starter

Well I tried your advice on finding a local shop to fix my starter. A little searching on line turned up a shop in an old industrial park not far from where I live. A classic two man operation, one old guy and one young. The small shop was packed full of starters, generators and alternators of all vintages. Kyle, the younger man seems to have largely taken over the operation, and had no problem with looking at a starter that was twice his age. After talking to him a little I had no problem leaving the starter there. Two days latter he called saying the starter was ready to go. Problem was the insulator on the main electrical post had rotted away and all four of the field windings had shorted out. He had rewired the whole thing, turned the commutator, cleaned up the brushes and even gave it a coat of paint. The whole deal cost me a third of what a rebuilt unit from one of the big operations on line would have cost (not including the shipping).
Putting the starter back on Matilda was the proof of the pudding, she turns over better then ever. I had no idea that some of these "hole in the wall" operations still existed.
Thanks to Kyle who had set up the website, complete with reviews, this one may continue to exist.
Thanks for the advice Pastor John, it was a great experience that didn't break the bank.
