I have not posted on YT for a while mainly due to Photobucket not allowing photos to be shared without paying a yearly fee. This did not allow easy access to my photos. I am moving the photos to files on my lap top for easier posting on YT. This is a great forum with a lot of good Case people who help others.
this is part 1 of my Case EXP tractors.
This is my early 300 Case Prototype. The 300 replaced the VAC and SC tractors, but was derived from the VAC-14. It took 12 prototypes to get the tractor into production. Only 2 prototypes and a picture have been found. I also have the other known prototype, that I believe is #12. These prototypes were the beginning of the end of the Flambeau Red Era.This early prototype has most of the new features the production 300 debuted with it's introduction for the 1956 model year. However although these first generation parts are the same design, they are different from the production parts and are not interchangeable. This tractor has hand clutch but a dual range transmission with UD and DD for the ranges instead of the triple range like the production tractors. Also both prototypes have shoe style brakes instead of disc like the production models. This prototype still has a VAC engine but it has been modified for larger displacement and more horsepower.
This is my late 300 prototype. This is one of 12 300 prototypes that were built.Only 2 are known to have survived. This tractor was found in Florida by Mr. J R Gyger whom I bought it from. Mr. Harry Klein said that they put the VAC metal on them to hide them from the competition during testing. This appears to be the 12th prototype. This tractor has several 300 parts with regular production casting numbers on it.Some of these appear to be fist run production castings. The triple range cover has the regular production casting number but no provisions for a dipstick of filler hole. You have to remove the cover to check the oil! It also has many EXV Castings. It has a triple range transmission. It has a 300 block casting with a serial number similar to the early 300 prototype I have that has a VT 328 (VA series)engine block casting number.
