1942 VAC with odd steering drag link/arm
This tractor was from Harry Kleins collection and has an unusual steering rod that is possibly the first attempt at replacing the chicken roost steering used until mid 1944. I believe this tractor has a drag link and steering arm that are experimental and never made it into production. The arm is shorter and the drag link curves inward keeping it tucked in better than the later production steering in the 3rd pic below.
Thanks to
Jim Schwartz for getting this tractor for me.

I believe this drag link and steering arm are experimental on this 1942 model VAC and never made it into production. The arm is shorter and the drag link curves inward keeping it tucked in better than the original chicken roost design and very similar to the new design starting at tractor serial # 4829408 in the next picture

This is the front bolster on the 1942 VAC with odd steering there should be a machined area with a set screw for the cultivator beams. This bolster does not have a casting number and appears to be an experimental casting.

Excerpt from the book Full Steam Ahead. I believe it is likely that this tractor has the short arm design vetoed in this paragraph.

I have not seen a grill with the radius tip corners on a tractor with the drag link steering.
