DB domestic parts sources

I am searching for a domestic source for David Brown clutch parts. New or rebuilt.

Received a quote of $900 to rebuild my DB885's clutch. More than half the amount, over $500 is for rebuilding the pressure plate. Eighty some bucks each to reline the disks which compares with what I have seen online. Forty to surface the flywheel which seems fair. Included are new T.O., pilot and P.P. bearings.

I can find clutch disks and bearings online but not a pressure plate new or rebuilt. Will need trans top gasket and trans to differential gasket. Seems like I spotted them online once before but no luck tonight. Tractor is missing one of the T.O. bearings little spring thingys that look to be used to prevent wear from the forks rollers, so I will need at least one of these too.

Scott, never found a domestic source. Have always had any I needed rebuilt. Most any online are made overseas. We put the discs that were online in a 990 and had to have his originals rebuilt a couple weeks later. Could have been operator error, I can't say for sure. Check different rebuilders.

No one else in the area that I know of. Almost lost this place when the former owner retired. Lucky that someone bought the place. People drive here from out of state to have work done so maybe there's a shortage of mom and pop rebuilders.

Does the pressure plate rebuild sound reasonable to you at $525? I am very tempted to have the disks rebuilt, buy new bearings and if the step height on the flywheel is correct, clean and scuff the friction surface. Use the pressure plate as is after cleaning it, lightly lubing what pivot points I can reach, scuff the friction surface (which looks near pristine to me) then assemble. Once everything is bolted down check and adjust as per the shop manual. Then cross my fingers.

Question for you Arlen, if you are familiar with these tractors; the PTO shaft... I pushed it back where it belongs. When it is turned it rotates a few degrees short of a full revolution and stops. Is that normal and is the stop the hydraulic pump drive? No difference whether the PTO is engaged or in neutral.
