Hi all. I need some help again. My Case 310 (SN 3001164) has a 12 v Negative ground delco universal alternator that someone put on it. It does not fit well. The throttle linkage hits the alternator and binds at full throttle, and the fan belt hits the front mounting bolt on the alternator. My 310 was original 6v Positive ground, but not long afterwards Case went to 12v positive ground (from what I can tell from the manuals). I would like to find an original 12v generator that fits. The parts manual I have shows several numbers G44844 and D22878, among others (AutoLite GJL-7003-A and GJL-7106-A). Does anyone know of a source or have one? Yesterday's Tractor Parts rep could not find one, or a replacement number, he suggested I post on her.

As an update, I got the hydraulic lift cylinder apart and all new seals and pistons ordered, got the hydraulic pump apart and new seal ordered.
 
CC, I have a Case 351, it has been converted to 12v neg ground. The alternator does not fit well with the hood and side shields. I am not experiencing the same problems with clearances you are. My intentions are to use an alternator commonly referred to as a Datsun alternator. It should fit nicely under my sheetmetal. YT sells them marketed toward the Farmall H owners because they will fit beneath the sheetmetal. I have installed two in H's they fitwell and have worked flawlessly. Just an option if you cannot find oem. gobble
 
In all my years, I've never seen where a new piston was needed for the Eagle Hitch. What happened to yours? We stock all the different seal combinations CASE used thru the years, but never furnished a new piston.
 
I wasn't talking about the eagle hitch, I was talking about the lift cylinders on the blade of the dozer. I thought since it was apart for new seal, might as well put in new pistons (only $14 each). Sorry for the confusion
