I have bought a LA Case with no Tag on dash that tell model. I have cleaned left side of motor and bell housing, can't find a number. Only number i have found is on bottom of bell housing where Y hooks to front axle. Would any body have a more precise location to look at?

Look again on the bell housing. Left side sitting on tractor. The sn will be stamped in the transmission bell housing where it bolts to the motor. They were all stamped in bell housing. Dick
 
I read on here years ago some of the dealers ordered in new motors for sale and installation and the motors were NOT stamped. I don't know this personally..................chuck.
 
I overhauled an 830 that appeared to have had the block replaced as the paint didn't match. I didn't find a serial number on that flange either. I also didn't find numbers marking the main caps.
