Black gunk seeping down 188 engine block

This is on a 431 diesel. At first I thought it was oil from the head gasket or valve cover. Further investigation, it seem to be coming out the exhaust. It?s a black oily substance.
Pictures attached.
Thanks
Jim

As Roger says a diesel needs to be run hard and put away wet so to speak or they will do just as yours is doing. You need to go out and work it good and hard for a few hours

Hard to work an engine hard in the winter. How's the thermostat....does it get the engine in operating range? I've got the 188 in my backhoe/loader used for snow removal. I have a new thermostat and use cardboard in front of the radiator in the winter. I don't like running a gas or diesel in the cold range.

The term is "wet Stacking". As said, I needs to be worked and the slobbering will go away. The same term applies to a turbo diesel that has seals going bad in the turbo charger.

I have a piece of cardboard covering about 2/3 of the radiator. Only job I have in the winter is blowing snow and the temp gets to about 140 degrees max. Guess I?ll completely cover the radiator and see if brings up the temp more.
