Got the Dc4 running, just a couple hiccups !

Got the DC4 running yesterday after 3 years sitting in the shop for painting. I went ahead and rebuilt the engine while I was at it this winter. Put
gas in the tank and installed a new battery and she fired right up. Well almost started right up. I pulled the light switch instead of the kill button
🙀. After I figured out the right switch she fired up but wanted to run full throttle, did not want to idle down. I finally figured out today that the
lever on the carburetor that the throttle linkage hooks to was loose on the butterfly shaft. I have a spare carb so that's a simple fix. Then I
noticed the oil filter canister was leaking oil, the gasket had moved on me. No real problems, but then while running it a few minuets it spewed
out 2-3 gal of water? Pulled the thermostat thinking I might have ut it in backwards but I had not. Put it back together, filled it with water and
everything was fine. It must have had some air trapped in the system. Dick.

It was good to talk to you the other night. Could you elaborate on rebuilding the motor. How deep did you have to get into her. look forward to speaking with you again.CM

Chuck, I pulled the sleeves, replaced O Rings on sleeves, honed sleeves and added new piston rings from Johm S. Bearings looked Good. Done a major on the head. New thermostats, new plus and wires. Had the mag rebuilt. Rebuilt the carburetor. New guages and new switches. All new electrical wiring, new battery and new battery cables. New steering wheel, new shifter boot. Did I leave anything out 🤔

I have always been intrigued with the governor on the DC Dick. I pulled the Valve cover gasket ,and found mild soft gunk on the 411 , and wondered if that had any affect on the governor springs on the DC not the 411.CM
