Engine Number on 311RN.

I found a number stamped on the right side of the engine block of my 311RN. It is 110M06558. It has nothing to do with the tractors serial number. What does this number represent?

According to Joe(WA) in and older post. It is the serial number for the block and 110M is the engine "family", the last 5 digits are assigned to blocks in sequence as they are built.

In 1995 I commuted where I was living in Washington and Avondale Shipyard in New Orleans for a year, driving both ways with plenty of stops and side trips. I owned a VAC-13 and was trying to tie engine s/n with tractor s/n build year on all VA. I also continued collecting s/n after I retired in 1998 as I was rambling around the country as far east as PA where I was born and raised. This page in Case service manual RAC 258 is what got me started on that.

I ran into quite a few 300RN and 311B which I intended to buy one day (eventually did buy both models) so I started collecting s/n on the 300RN and 311B. All the 311RN and 310RN engine s/n were 110M + 5 digits. When I started posting here in the early 2000's one of the posters stated that his 300RN engine serial nr started with 110N. That's the only departure from 110M that I am aware. All the 311B engine s/n were 180R + 5 digits, although there were many more 300RN to check. Both 300RN & 311B have the G148 engine, except 301.They appear to be the same engine except very slight difference in the reinforcement ribs in the front of the block. I don't know why the s/n change between the two.

No, Most of the tractor & engine s/n were collected in 1995 and again on a ~5 month round trip to PA in 1999. There is some info in the archives here early 2000's if I could find it. Most of it was VA series as the 300/300B engine s/n only covered 4 years the engine s/n were the same in the respective series.

I never did scan the lists into the computer and this tree and rain took out all my tractor/truck manuals and papers along with a workbench, desk, bins of parts and fasteners. Wind/rain, power out for about 4 days. By the time I could do much salvage it was time for scoop shovel into the truck and trips to the dump when the road opened up.

That tree must have come down pretty hard to make that big slice through your garage. I noticed that the 300 in your picture is the same yellow color mine is. Was that a color Case used on the industrial model of the 300? Mine happens to be a row crop model that is painted that same yellow color.
