Can someone in the know tell me about a case 351 engine? I understand it doesn't have wet sleeves. Did other models of tractors use the same setup. Does that mean those engines were not as good as regular Case engines? DO other engines interchange. I ask all of this because I have found one sitting somewhere. I am going to try and track the owner down to see if it is for sale.

Ken: The 351, 500B & 600B all used the 164 Dry Sleeve Engine. The only dry sleeve engine CASE ever produced. No inherent problems I'm aware of. Has the 2 bolt starter like all the Rock Isle tractors prior to 1960 which can present a problem with engine swap. Sleeves & Pistons still available, but only thru CASE & very $$$. Good luck.
