Same Transaxle?

My 1961 Case W3 (530) tractor has casting number G1096 for the transaxle housing. I'm rebuilding the transmission and rear differential. At the same time I been looking for tractors for parts. I found a Case 440 of similar vintage with the same transaxle housing G1096. Before I buy it, does that mean both transaxle housings are exactly the same? My tractor has no pto and just a flat cover. The Case 440 has a pto cover and 3 point hitch. This Case 440 is missing fuel tank cover, grills, and tires are all worn down and it has not run for a few years. Its definitely rough and I expect I'd just winch it onto my trailer to get it home. I'm hesitant to to pay too much for it. There is a chance the transaxle bearings could be rough as mine were. I don't want to lowball the owner. The owner is open to any offer and does not have a asking price.
