The headlights on my VAC were pretty loose nad bulbs burned out. Trying to put it back together but am
wondering just what is the funcion of the rope seals and do they go ahead of or behind the glass lense.
Thanks.

Isn't that a rubber seal that goes around it? Steiner's has a seal that goes around light to seal it in.

Here's what i do, and it has worked for years. I take black silicon and spread it around the trim ring, then i let it set up before i put it back together.

Thanks. I guess a better question (but harder to answer) is what was the rope supposed to do? I thought it was to seal out water, but it seems more like it was a cushion against the glass. I may be wrong on both.

pretty sure they are original. It is dark rope. Parts book doesn't give any clue. It just calls them gaskets. I can't imagine it being an aftermarket item. Unlike the SC I had, which had all the innards to the light covered or eaten by rust, these reflecters are nice and shiny. The switch for the red light even works on the back. I have never had a tractor with one of those that worked.
