C Ready to roll

A while back I posted pictures of some old tractors. The 1930 C had been sitting at least 50 years I found out. The left rim and some spokes had pretty much rusted away. I had some old JD combine rims from an auction a while ago and decided with the warmer weather I would try to switch them out. I had used an old mobile home axle to roll it onto the trailer but wanted to roll it off on its own. Working on the deck over trailer was just the right height for me to do the cutting and drilling.

New tires are 14.9x26. I measured out and welded in 12 short spokes on the rims. Then I clamped the rims to the old cut spokes and spun the wheel. By spinning I was able to adjust clamps till there was no out-of- round movement against a crude "dial indicator". I have maybe 1/8 inch in/out movement but I'm not sure the rims were completely straight when I started.

Just thought you might like the photos. Long way from done but at least it will roll
