I just brought home my third 70 series case powershift, a 2670. I have a 970 and 1370. Upon looking at the 2670, I knew something wasnt just right with the ps, it would shift up fine, but would only downshift if you press the inching pedal. Even if you pulled the shifter back to 1st, nothing happened and when you pushed in the pedal, it felt like the shifter was still in 3rd. I drove it around at the guys house for 2 hrs and couldn't find any other problems. All up shifts were fine, went into reverse fine and sounded fine when I pushed the inching pedal all the way to the floor. I went back and got it, hauled it home, unloaded it, and it was still the same. My little boy wanted to ride it so we took it out through the field a couple of times, I pushed down the inching pedal and it killed the motor, twice. Next the engine no longer stalled, but it sounds like heck when you hold the inching pedal all the way down, or go in reverse. Almost like a bearing is trying to lock up. The tractor has seen little use for the last 15 years as the fuel filters have april 2002 on them. Is this a sticky spool valve or do you guys think its a mechanical issue deep inside?
