Does anyone know the pop pressure of the fuel injectors on an 801-b. Got an injector giving trouble I think. Thank You, jstpa

Pressure range is 1800 to 2200 PSI. Higher pressure will give easier starting and lower press gives more power.

I was pulling my 700 diesel several years ago. I run my timing at 32 degrees. Cracking pressure
also affects timing. Higher pressure retards the actual timing due to additional time to build
the pressure, also gives finer spray pattern so starting is better. Tests with the 700 gave a 3
horsepower gain at 1800 PSI over 2200 PSI.

Some of our dyno tests were at 3200 RPM and netted 115 HP and this is normally aspirated. No
counter shaft in this engine. Used to eat 4020's alive.

Interesting stuff Gene, did not get into the aspects you are talking about. I do know a turboed 830 will not make much power at stock timing, 35 deg gets it done but starting suffers. 115 out of a 700 is really impressive!! what dyno were u using ? Have removed the faulty balancers on a few 870s and replaced them with the front mount oil pumps, can you imagine the stress on the balancer at 3000+ rpm, a real way to eat up HP also, I believe it is the 780 backhoe that uses an unbalanced engine (336) and all the feed pipes are a direct fit, a little machining on the front main cap to accept the oil pump and it all fits. Used to run the 336 with the turbo setup off the Case skidders, 115 was a nice number and made a real brisk 870 and never had any powershift issues and about the same TL failures as normal.
