My brother just purchased a 540 (I think 540 because it is a gasoline tractor) what are the shift patterns? I am not near the

On the hood it has Tripl range, does that make sense?

Thanks, he got it for 2000 with a bushhog and good tires New fronts and 75% rears. Seems like a good buy. a hired help put diesel in it, the owner then drained it by taking the main jet out of the carb. when he put the jet back in he screwed the needle in all the way and it wouldn't run. My brother drove it home. Jim

Sounds like a good buy. You have just bought the best in that size, scrape the mud or whatever is covering the top of the tranny cover and you will see the shift pattern.

I think he found the Hi range I think he has not found the Low range. Our Farmalls run 18 (the 400 will do 21) so he is a natural on it. Jim

Go to "N" on the range shifter pull it to the Right about 1/2" or so then up is low range
