Hello, working on a 1949 DC3 with an adjustable wide front axle. My issue is that the tractor will turn way shorter to the right and barely turn to the left. The steering arm on the tractor is 73 inches overall length and I have a couple parts tractors that have the same length steering link so I think that it is correct but could someone verify that for me? Any suggestions on centering the steering? Front pedestal arm is keyed to the shaft so I don't think I can adjust there, but I have not torn it apart yet. With the arm pulled from the steering gearbox the front axles has free movement but it is the stop on the gearbox arm that hits stopping motion to the left. Thanks for any suggestions, Mike.

Maybe you are right, I never spent much time on a DC but this one will turn to the right as far as the wheels can turn but can turn less than 45 degrees to the left. Working on fixing some wiring and other issues so it will be a few days before I get a chance to take it for another test drive.
There are many combinations of parts in the steering arms and most seem to make the adjustable wide fronts not turn correctly. Somehow, I got lucky with mine. I bought a wide front for my 51 and the short steering arm with the curved front arm worked correctly. I did have to weld stops on the arm at the rear so it would hit before the stops at the bottom of the spindles hit.

I am wondering if you have the right drop arm/AWF arm combination. The curved steering arms had much shorter drop arms and AWF arms than the straight steering arm. I had to cut 3 inches out of the AWF arm to get it to steer close to correct. I know other people on this forum have had a problem similar to yours and it is not supposed to work that way. Don

Yes I am thinking that may be the issue. I know that it is not the short arms that go with the curved link as I have that set up on another tractor. I am wondering if a gearbox arm from a tricycle front tractor is different than the arm from a wide front? Hard to decipher from the online parts catalog.
