wanted:information on 30 series and more

I have developed an interest in the case tractors and have some Q's regarding the 30 series of tractors, and the 100 series

on the 30 series, why are the fuel tanks in front of the steering wheel on some, and behind the seat on some? I've looked at pictures on tractor data, tractor house, and lot of the 'past auctions' that have pictures, see them both ways. is there a SN/year change? if so when? I'm looking at an 830LP(841?) tank in front, priced at 4750.00, is that reasonable,.. most auction prices I have researched that seems a bit high

Next Q, will the 900 diesel(need to stay under 1960 year) compete with the 80,820,830 JD's on sled pull?, I would like to see something different at the local pull here, the only other color that can compete that I have seen is an IH 660 but they not hardly any of them around that show up

Quick answer on the fuel tanks.... only the Comfort King 930/1030 had the fuel tank in the back.
All other models in the 30 series from the 430 and up, including the early 930s, had the tank up front.

A stock 900B will produce 78hp. If you bolt on a 504 cubic inch engine from a 1370 you'd have around 160hp. That is if the transmission and final drive will take it.

The 900 had the same 377cid engine as the 500/600 only with an inline pump and more rpms. With an overhaul to a 401 setup and some pump work I'd think 100hp would be easy to hit. The stock 377 pulls extremely well as it was built to plow, and has tremendous lugging power down into the low rpm's. They don't do that kind of pulling around here, so I've never seen a stock one pull before, only highly modified units running about 14mph down the track. I have a 900 that is very tired and it still surprises me how much pulling power it has with an implement, hard to imagine what a healthy one would do.

I gotta hand it to ya, you have a polite way of telling someone he's full of mierda. My wife should to take lessons from you. :(
