That thing was TIGHT

Today the DC and me were Routinely making cow feed , when .,."up jumped thedevil" , fuel problem,. the ol' Gent was starving for gas ,..the floats were not allowing gas thru ,,.so i gave ita whack with the robo grip pliars i had Handy in my leg pocket,,. that fixed it and back to grinding feed .... for 5 minutes,.,then ,,it did it again,. so ,.. I DOED it again with the robo grip pliars,!,., but . One Whack, too many ,,.,my whack bounced off the gas line and i broke the galvanized Strete L off in the Zenith Carb , Well Shucks ,.. So much for getting to combine at noon today .///. No Biggy ,.it was put in only hand tite,. But,, a slotted Screw driver refused to grip it ,. so, Next ,,. i got the easy out set,. Found one that fit PERFECT for the job ,.But It Would Not Grip ,.And When it Finally Did ,. Nothing Would spin ,,.?dangit? I guess it is a Galvanize Physics lesson ??.. After much strain to NEARLY the Breaking Point , I decided it would need to be drilled out .. but NOW , i could not get the daurn easyout to release to get out ,. took a small ball peen and tapped on the top while untwisting and finally she let go ,..never had a easy out cease up like that before ,.. again , i think it is a galvanizing thing.. pulled the carb ,because i still need to find the stoppage ,it was a pc of plasticised, pastey ,gray hard slime crud , the by product from dehydrated ethanol gas when left too long when a tractor sleeps for a couple monthes , and a common problem at this place with all the gassers . So , I .drilled the Strete L out ,,..Retapped the threads..got a carb kit from Bill at the Local Farm Store ,i only needed a gasket ,, and i needed it badly .. and hoped he would have the correct brass elbow that should go there ,.. but he only had a brass straight connector ,.. so now i at least have brass
fitting in the carburater again ,.. , it was after 3 whenever i finally got to the other farm to fix the combine

Jim,
It sounds like a normal day on a small farm, using the old machinery we love (and can afford). An older neighbor was watching me farm for a few days and said he finally figured out what FFA stood for: Farming and Fixing. LOL If you find a source for that brass street ell please let me know. I cross threaded one recently on a DC and the hardware stores had every possible fitting but that one. O'Reillys didn't have it either but did rig me up with a couple fittings that did work with a gas hose connection. Good Luck with your combine. Don
