Sharing and saving my Legacy

Without a doubt My Time will Be up some day ,, I wonder if there is a service that could compile all my stories and
and replies to complete posts here on Yesterdays Tractors into a book of memoirs,?.. I Think My grand children , mite find it interesting and get a full understanding and insite to the joys and passions of the challenges of the Ag lifestyle i have chosen to lead all my life .

There used to be a grandparents book you could buy that was to be give to a grandparent and filled out, the book would ask questions to get you started and it would just go from there, it would ask the normal stuff to get a history. I thought it was neat, your idea of a copulation of forum stories is a good one too. Just don?t forget to write things down also, sometimes grandkids don?t know the right questions to ask, or wish they would have when it?s too late. People it seems don?t get interested in their past until they are older.

Something I have used just in the search feature, to refer back to questions I have asked, posts I have made, etc... Just a simple google search while entering your forum handle, and ytmag.com, or yesterday's tractors will reveal a lot of information. (i.e. "Ken Christopherson Yesterday's Tractors")...

I have found that some of my real early posts where I used different forum handles have been hard to find - but I started coming here in about 1998 or so when I was 12 years old. I previously have used the handles of "SClover" and "FarmallCaseKid".. Since I have grown up, I figured my name was sufficient enough.

Hard to believe I have been coming to this forum for nearly 20 years. Learned a lot from everyone on these forums. Would be impossible to thank you all, so I just keep trying to pass on the knowledge I have by both posting when I can, and also through my YouTube channel (which has been surprisingly active).

oldgentdc,
Do you use modern view? I don't, but, if you change to modern view for a minute, then find a post or reply by you. Click the "profile" button down at the bottom of your post. Then while on your profile page, click on "Find all posts by oldgentdc" - you can see everything you have ever posted. Ususally. Sometimes there are many missing from long ago. Looks like most of yours are there. Maybe you have done this already....

You could take some time and copy/paste the "Best of oldgentdc" in to a Word document. Would take some time....

I like reading your posts too!

Jim,

jdv is correct, there is still a book called Grandpa, Tell me your Memories. I just got done filling one out for my granddaughter. There are a lot of questions but your grandchildren will know you pretty well by the time they get to the end. Whatever you decide to do, at least write down something for the next generations. I would sure like to read some thoughts from my grandparents point of view. Don

My Son and Daughter in Law got me this for Christmas last year. I get a weekly question that is provided by my Son through Storyworth that I have to answer. At the end I am to be provided with a book, and can order additional copies. It has been interesting to say the least. My Son has provided questions that he knows maybe something about, a little about, or maybe nothing about at all, but has heard of. Questions about first tractor, first car, how I met their mother, the scar on my chest, jobs, how we named our kids, etc. I also have the opportunity to select a different question from the one provided. I will say it has been thought provoking, and there is certainly work involved on my part.

Here is a link.

I was a young child when my maternal grandparents passed away. Mom gave out a few tidbits over the years, but not enough. I was a little older when my paternal grandfather passed, and was in high school by the time my paternal grandmother passed. I learned a little about their lives from their nieces and nephews that knew them a lot longer. My parents were retired, but still active when my grandchildren started showing up, but I don't really know if they remember much about them. It will probably be the same when their children show up. I'll be too old to matter to them by then. It just makes me feel old and tired to think of these things.
