310 C Engine Issues

Hi again. I need some help. The 310 C I have once belonged to my family, up until 1985, it was 6 volt positive ground. My grandfather bought it new. We sold our ranch in 1985 and the Case went with the ranch. I recently got it back. It was converted to 12V negative ground sometime after 1985. It started right up, but fuel poured from the carburetor and it had no power. The recent owner said that was why they quit driving it. What I found is the fuel pump was not working, the only fuel it was getting was gravity fed. When we loaded it on the trailer it would quit when it headed up hill. I put a gravity flow tank above the carb to get it loaded. It still didn't have any power It also has a Zenith 14544 carb now. I took that apart, put a new kit in, and the leak stopped (needle valve was sticking. I put on a new Walbro FRA2-1 pump which is supplying fuel well, but it still has no power. If I pushed the accelerator down it would quit. Then this weekend it wouldn't start at all, even with starting fluid it wouldn't kick over. I checked the ignition and it looks like the spark is intermittent and weak. I have ordered new points, condenser, cap, and wires. I hope the come this weekend. I tried starting it again this week and it would run just a few seconds and quit. It acts like it isn't getting fuel, and not getting spark both. I am stumped. Here is a link to it running, you can hear that even lifting the blade pulled the engine down. https://youtu.be/GH2owlPZYp8

I also attached some photos, one of me driving it in 1972, the other in a trailer I brought it home with a couple weeks ago.

Adirondack Case Guy said it perfectly......what a CLASSIC picture. An original Case crawler......1968 Chev long box/narrow bed pickup.....vintage camper.....I love it.

Wish I could help more with your engine issues. I have had many Case 300 tractors with 6v. systems, but no 12v. conversions. While you have gone thru the fuel system, be very sure that with new pump and carb overhaul.....is there still debris in the tank floating around and restricting fuel flow.

Be sure that there was a 12v. coil installed when conversion was done. Other than that, is polarity correct on wiring to the coil and distributor ? Points and condenser can be a very big issue, so I hope that your new parts will eliminate both issues. Also, carbon tracking on rotor or carbon tracking on inside of cap can be an issue especially under load. Last, but not least.....are plug wires routed in a manner that would allow them to ground against the engine or are they joined close together coming out of the cap which would cause mis-fire between wires ?

Keep us posted
