OT-Bib overalls

Case nutty and ACG post below brings up an off topic question. What kind of bib overalls do you prefer and why. I like my "Key" bibs, but if I don't cross the shoulder straps they constantly fall off my shoulders. Just wondering. I like to wear bibs when working on my Case tractors. gobble

key is thin enuf for summer work ,i wear sweats under mine in the cold ,.they seem to tear easily for me ,.. i have worn heavier brands for more expense ,,. all in all for the money they are the best ,,. my straps are a problem also////who makes the stripes that Loren and Tom Allege they are wearing in the Alleged ,LOL post ?

I like the Key brand bibs also. I haven't had any issues with tearing, but do admit they are on the thin side. Wearing sweats under them for cold outdoor work in the winter works for me too. The loose fitting straps can be shortened enough to stay on your shoulders. Just don't shorten them too much though. Bending over or sitting down will get uncomfortable in a hurry.

I bought some Carhart bibs online for about half price. The only thing I don't care for on them is the fancy clasp on the end of the shoulder straps. I don't think I'd pay their full retail price for them just for that reason.

Can Oshkosh bibs be bought anymore?

I have a Key, Dickies, and a Liberty. The Liberty is well made, mine still has button fly, I also had a Big Smith that was good. Dave K

I wear Key bibs. Key has about 4 different denims. One is the original stiff denim that will shrink after the first washing. The others are slightly different in how they are prepped. One is stonewashed, another is enzyme washed. They also have a cheaper overall that is not the Key Imperial. I have had good luck with them. The only issue I have had is the side hole buttons. I have a bit more girth to stuff in there and it sometimes has caused those button holes to tear. Not really an overall issue...I am just too fat.
Always buy your overall two sizes larger than your pant size. So if you are a 48, then buy a 50 overall.

No on OshKosh. They dont make them anymore. Interesting story, the family who has Key originally owned OshKosh. They later sold it and founded Key. Their names are McKey based in Fort Scott, KS.

I wear the Big Smith myself. I can make them last quite a while until the pliers holder on the side wears through on the bottom. I can get my Wife so sew it up about one time, and then she throws them away. They are usually ready by then anyway.
My Dad wore nothing but Osh Kosh. By Gosh!

I have that same problem. I've slowly turned into a toad as I got older. I don't even try to button the sides anymore. With all the pressure on them to hold everything in, I am afraid of what would happen if one of those buttons let loose. Probably shoot right through a tractor fender and lodge in the tire.

TT,

Your post jogs my memory. The farm next to us has hi-way frontage and when I was a child there was a metal sign on the hill advertising Key Overalls. Just imagine, so many farmers that they advertised for overalls. Things have sure gone downhill. Don

My favourite are the Big Bill dairy stripe bibs. I wear them pretty much every day. Can't stand the feeling of my pants sliding down all the time, as I have hips like a snake, it is a fight to keep pants up. The Carhart and the Dickies are good overalls but the darn strap fasteners dig into me. As you can see in the picture, the Big Bill straps don't detach from the bib. And don't dig into your chest.

bruce , i have been lookin for the striped ones... you do look very comfortable there with your sweetheart in those bibs , even standing on your head dont seem to strain you ,,.. please know i dont know the 1st thing about posting pix

I have a pair of Key and don't care for them the sides won't stay buttoned and they get holes easy. I had canvas Carharts they were tough as nails and about as rough. They wore around the knees where the doubled cloth joined the single. I have some rural king brand ones I like but have a hard time finding my size they seem to work good I will have to give them some time though.

I like the Carhart and Liberty ones that I have. I don't like the Tractor Supply (Schmidt) brand that I have. Straps seem to cit into you.

LOL. My wife's grandpa always talked about a neighbor who was scrawny and his wife wasn't. He said his wife always tried on his bibs before buying them for him. Grandpa said he took 3 steps
before his overalls moved. I still laugh every time I think about it.

I lurk over here a lot from the JD side of things and have no Case knowledge but I do wear bibs!

Round House as well for me. Good quality, wear well. Had some Carhart before that and those were junk.
