1370rod/AGC/case nutty question for you

Got a customer with a tall tin 730 com. Need to change the rear end/ hydraulic oil. He?s always hard up with money and doesn?t maintain very well. What?s the thought of running the 303 fluid instead of the hytran? If it was mine I?d run hytran but on this Tractor I almost don?t want to run the expensive oil. Thanks for any input or comments.

I might get flamed by Bro on this, but my high tin 831C has 303 in it plus it has a leaky rear engine seal, and the oil is black as heck in the converter housing. It shifts well when the converter is dumped, and the pressure is good and it locks briskly when shifted into direct drive.
As for the rear end and hyds. I wouldn't hesitate to use 303, and perhaps as my buddy JS recommends, maybe ad a gal. of 85-90 to the rear end mix. The hyd. pump is not fussy at all, as long as it has enough to drink.

the 303 should be fine in there in both trans/hyd and com,, personally I would not add the 80-90wt as I see no need in that app,, but thats me,, and Bro its all KOOL with me lol

Fresh 303 oil in my opinion would be just fine. There are many name brand quality oils that should be just fine in that tractor. Having serviced tractors for over 45 years I can honestly say I have never seen a failure caused by a quality clean oil regardless of the name on the container. Rod.

If I want thicker oil I buy thicker oil. I don't try to make some with a questionable lab experiment. Some things do not mix and are not to be mixed with out compromising the traits of the oil.
