1200 engine rebuild

I have a david brown 1200 i have to rebuild the engine.Can i split the tractor without taking the top cover off the trans like the manual says i have to do.

No need to remove top cover. Just remember to take out the wedge at the back of the block between the engine and bellhousing.

No need to even remove the top of the bellhousing. fuel tank, steering wheel can all stay in place. Leave the PTO box on too, no reason to remove it.

The only hard part is taking out the one bolt in the front throwout shaft through the gap in the bottom so you can slide out the shaft. to get at this one, you need to split it, slide apart about 2", take out the bolt/shaft, then slide the rest of the way apart.
