Gap set for plugs

After much research I have found these plugs recommended for:
1952 CASE DC -- use Autolite 3116
1942 CASE SC -- use Autolite 437
What gap setting do I use?
Local mechanic says just use as is right out of the box.....

I just purchased and installed some Champion D-21 in my 411. Book says gap at .025. Two were good right out of the box, two were nearly touching the electrode so required adjustment to get .025. To late togo looking for the gap specification tonite I will look tomorrow if no one has posted will post. gobble

I would add that I think it is more important that the electrodes are gapped so they are square than what they are gapped at.

German and Asian plugs come completely assembled and gapped and are shipped with a protective sleeve so they stay that way. American ones are not like that. IMHO this is one reason we are losing the global economic race.

Let me add a little to my original question:
What do we know about the specialty plugs like E3 and Splitfire plugs?

I've had a few customers, years ago, who tried Splitfire plugs. Said they made absolutely no difference in their cars. Dunno about E3s.
