History of Eagle hitch

What year did Case begin installing the Eagle Hitch on the DC-3 ?
I have a narrow front DC, with Eagle Hitch, foot clutch.
serial number is 5527130
maybe I should order a build card....
Thanks, C Kain

Ok, Thanks, I didn't know a '51 could have that. When my Dad bought this DC, around 1966, He was told the rear half was from an 'later' year. but it was obvious different, the paint was much better from the 'break line' back. We even had the left over old rear part. It had no tires etc, never used it, kids just played on it.

A late 51 can have the live PTO and Eagle hitch, but the foot clutch did not come out till later. You have a 53, or 54 rear end on a 51 engine.

The eagle hitch and live hydraulics were available on the D series in 1952. The foot clutch was introduced in 1953. Case still sold the 1953 models during 1954 while they were retooling for the 400's. I think the remaining 1953 tractors were given 1954 serial numbers after January 1st 1954.

Shots of my 51 with factory EH and no live power, this one has never hd the EH used as the man who bought it new only had pull-type equipment, it pulled a one-way disc all its used life

I'd be interested in seeing the build card for that tractor.

It is factory they made a number of them before all the live power parts became available due to a vendor issue if you are thinking it is not original

I believe that it is original. I'm just curious about how many Case made like that. The book I have that covers 150 years of J.I.Case history didn't mention it. You most likely have a very rare DC tractor and it should be restored for posterity.

haha, quite right ! I know it's had two fronts 'engines'. The second one I put on, although I kept the original radiator/wheels.

With seeing the foot clutch and the easy ride seat I'd say you have a '51 engine and a '53 tranny and rear end. Two things late '51's did not have. A build card would help solve this mystery. Don

DKase, That's what I always believed,,, 53/54 rear. however the serial on the dash plate indicates 51. Would the PO, go to the effort to remove and keep tag on the newer rear ?? It doesn't look 'molested'...
