Rod1370; I asked a question about a week ago on using a single battery for a 930 Diesel. You replied that you converted several tractors over the years to a single group 27 battery.

May i ask are you using the standard group 27 auto battery or the group 27 marine battery both seem to have 550 CCA?

I am actually having trouble finding a lousy group 27 battery of either type where i live.

John Sali mentioned a group 30 battery but i dont know if i have clearance under the floor plate to clear the battery post.

P.S> I know I live in a backwards part of the country but finding what should be a common battery is getting ridiculous. I can find group 24 batteries and a few batteries for the newer cars that use a battery the size of a lawn mower battery but everything else must be ordered. No one has the 6 volt batteries I currently have in the tractor in stock either. You know when i bought this tractor it came with 2 - 7D 6 volt batteries. I bet i would play heck finding them today

A group 27 is the size battery in 70 and 90 series tractors. I would usually put that size in customer units, but I have put just group 24 in some of my own units to save a couple bucks. Quite frankly all have worked out well. Even on my 1660 combine I have been using just one group 27 and that had two in also, one works fine for me, Rod.

I put a single new group 31 battery in the RH box when I redid the tractor. It has a Denzo starter, and new 00 cables with soldered ends. It spins at about 500rpm, and starts instantly.
