A Case buddy Seat

Took a picture of this at Albert City this year. Case never made it easy to put a buddy seat on their tractors but then again that was never their intention.
I though this was a nicely done retro-fit for what the VA/300 series has to work with.

Guess that would be pretty handy but woulb be a lot safer if it had a pair of fixed armrests on it and maybe even a seatbelt. The person on it, adult or child, has no steering wheel to hang on to

I remember going with my Dad to a demonstration of the Eagle Hitch VAC's plowing, east of Leeds near Sioux City. The tractors had a seat bolted to the fender about where that rectangle is on the top of a VAC fender. I don't remember what year it was or should I say I don't know because I was young.

must have been acommon idea and perhaps even a after market sale item for CASE Our Bischof Family Memories book , has a pix of Merritt driving the VAC and son Lynn Bischof in the buddy seat ,with the hay rake behind leaving handsome windrows ,.the seat was not rubberized but had a pillow ,no seat belt neither . i suppose it was safe by 1950s standards .. just to illustrate , I have a guy that was raised in S Dakota and is huntin my Farms Now, he talks of walking the rear tire of a fenderless DC as a kid in low gear with his cousin gunnin the throttle to try to throw him off . Dangerous?? perhaps < >.during that same time era the farm a mile down the road had a old dodge truk the boys used to ride and hang all over from , just to make their mom hysterical, they would climb out the broken out back window and make their way to perchin on the front fender with feet on the front bumper and ride into Lanesville Mill that way,or spread eagle across the cab .They were Good hearted ,and they loved their mother, and asured her they were careful LOL one became a Green Beret and gave 2 tours in veitnam ..

My dad's C Case had a buddy seat. It was the left fender. There were no controls on the left side. Feet could dangle. Top speed was slow. No jerk. The clutch was as smooth as silk.

I was at a Case IH sales meeting once on Magnum,(Denver) and they were showing pics of the tractor. When they got to the extra seat, they showed Deere's, and said, Deere calls this a buddy seat. We elect to call ours a "companion" seat! HeHe

Speaking of Magnum buddy seats... I have been trying to find one for our 7120. Turns out they are $300-400.00 new! Any leads on used ones that don't break my bank?

Cant answer that.

Why don't you look at salvage yards, Magnums are starting to show up there.
