E series plow info.

Just read the post by desert eagle about an E series Case plow. I'm not familiar with this plow. Pictures look like it is not an Eagle Hitch, wondering when it was in production. Bet one would work great behind my Oliver 550. Thanks, Harry

I am not sure on the exact year but the plow was during the VA series. It is Eagle Hitch and should work on most if not all the eagle hitch tractors. Originally had bolts that screwed into the plow in place of
draft pins. I have attached pictures of a club member who paired his E series 2 bottom with his 300 and a picture of my E16 series one bottom with another show-goes VAC and then on my 300. I intend to get my
VAC out with the E16 and get some shots of it turning some dirt. You also had the E21 and E22 plows that were break-away model. I have posted pictures of those before and can post them again if there is
interest.

Harry: It was most definitely Eagle Hitch, but had no trip protection. Chugging along behind a VAC, one would probably be plowing shallow, & if the plow did hit something, most likely no serious damage would result.

The E series 1 and 2 bottom plows for the VA series were the first eagle hitch plows. They came out in 1949 with the introduction of eagle hitch on the VA series.
Break away plows were introduced around 1951 for the VA series. There were 2 or 3 different variations with the first style break away commonly called a Bullet Plow
because of the bullet shape of the tip. Here is a pic of the last design produced for the VA series introduced in 1954. Nick

Harry,
I am not familiar with the Oliver 550, but before you buy a Case plow make sure that the plow beam will not hit the back of your tractor. I have seen the front beam
torched off because of this when putting them on non VA series tractors. There is even a Case factory service bulletin for the plow I posted below with instructions to
cut the beam off when using on the SC or DC tractors. I have used this plow on my DC and could not fully raise it because the beam would hit the hydraulic control
valves. Nick

We have a NOS 2-16 Series E Plow we put together with all NOS parts. Has slat bottoms. I bet would look good behind your Oliver. Someone needs it!!

Thanks to all for the prompt replies. Connor: thanks for the info. , especially the pictures. Look like calendar material to me.
Nutty: thanks, I always enjoy your pictures, that western landscape and the sunsets. Nick: great view of the Eagle Hitch, bet it would work on the Ollie with sway bars. John: I would love to have that 2x16, but shipping to MO. would be way too much. Thanks again, Harry
