Hi I am told that the case 511 b does not have power steering I am looking for a loader tractor and really want one with power steering because I have had a different loader tractor without power steering and it sucks to turn with something in the bucket. Thanks for any help.

According to the Tractor Data site the 511B did not have power steering as an option.

We have a 511b with power steering, it was an option. check case parts online store it showes power steering for 511b utility and general puroos tractors. Hope this Helps, JIM

According to my manuals, the 511B general purpose models had the Barnes gear-drive pump and the Char-Lynn booster as an option. My 611B is the same.

A 511B would be a poor choice for a loader tractor, whether it was equipped w/ power steering, or not. When new, the hydraulic pump was 10 gpm max, now it would have close to 60 years of wear. Front axle & spindles on a 511B were not designed for a loader. A 510B Utility style, with a crankshaft driven hydraulic pump is a different story, but even then, the power steering was not the best, it was only a "power assisted steering", but not bad.

John is right, of course (that's a bad habit of his). Fact is, the loader on mine is just an afterthought, just has a diverter valve to use the hydraulics for the Eagle hitch, so you must operate the loader with your third hand 'cuz it takes the other two to steer it. That's when the power steering is working. On top of that, mine is a rowcropper, so it's just too high off the ground, I can't tilt the bucket up enough, just about level when it's on the ground. But it beats no loader at all, by a country mile.
