Case 1494 steering issue

I just brought home my first "modern" tractor. It's the first one that's younger than me (1986, born 1983). The previous owner did plenty of "good nuff" repairs. On driving it home the biggest concern I had is in the steering. I am pretty sure it's something with the power steering system. It doesn't really have power steering when sitting still, and when driving it hesitates to respond, and then over responds. Needless to say it was a slow and stressful drive home with constant adjustments being made to keep it straight. Where would you start? I'm honestly not even sure where to check the fluids, lines seem to go up under the cowling by the cab. Thanks!

Make sure there is fluid in it. The PS pump is the round thing on the right side of engine close to the radiator.
