1070 Steering Stop Repair

I need advice on fixing or repairing a steering stop on the steering actuator housing on my '73 1070 (8-spd, power brakes). Hopefully I can repair the stop without replacing the steering actuator case.

I've had a steering actuator leak under the front end so I reviewed the service manual and researched this forum, specifically the following two threads:

1. This one from last month which gave some great troubleshooting advice:

2. And this link from several years ago, seems to be the same symptoms I've got:

After removing the grill and thoroughly washing the steering actuator bay, I've located the leak at the right front piston end cap. Associated with that is the steering stop on the left side of the actuator housing is missing allowing oversteer to the right and I suspect this is the reason cap is broken. I've got a FEL on this tractor and have been moving a lot of rock with it so I think that oversteer or relief valve pressure may be the cause. But once I get that repair complete, I'd like to limit the steering travel to keep this leak from happening again.

My plan is to remove the right front and rear caps, replace either (or both) if needed, and replace the o-rings that goes with them. I'll also check the pressure relief valve settings for good measure. Fixing the stop would be the last task in the repair but I'd like to hear any input before I get too far into the fix if I have to replace the actuator.

Any input on the steering stop repair or my plan in general would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
dw
