Case G530 Construction King Forklift

I have a 1963 Case G530 Construction King Forklift where the seal on the main forklift cylinder has blown/leaks badly, I have removed the very large cylinder (about 10') and am not able to pull the piston out. I do not want to use too much force for fear of doing more damage. Anybody know the key/trick to removing the piston? I have already remove the treaded collar and the cylinder is a one sided presure cylinder in that presure is used to raise the cylinder and forks and it comes down on release by gravity. How do I remove the piston to get to the seals and what kind of seals are used? Anybody Know?

Push them out with oil, or pull them out with a come-a-long between 2 tractors. You can try a
hydraulic shop for the seals, but some of them can only be found at Case Construction.

Don't miss the obvious--make sure you disconnected the oil line so you're not fighting vacuum. If you have another fork handy, that should pull the piston out easily enough. Or a front-end loader.

If we are talking the main mast cylinder you don't need to remove it at all or remove it from the machine. Take the bolts out that hold the cylinder to the mast frame and pull the cylinder forward out of the mast. You will need to block the mast up a little to do that. Remove the brass gland nut. The hard part is getting the gland seal out. I've seen it cheated by starting the machine up and putting hydraulic pressure on it to pop it out but that will make a mess. Get correct seals from your CNH industrial dealer with the mast serial number and reverse order everything. Done.
