I just bought a '69 990 selectomatic and the 3 pt arms go up as soon as you start the machine. If I push on them I can get them to go down, and if I hook up my brush hog they will go down but don't seem to operate quite right they are very jumpy. Also if I go up hill and rev the engine in a lower gear the brush hog will raise up until the engine revs back down. The tractor runs great I just need to figure out the 3pt issues. Thank you in advance...

I think you have got the swtch for the different hydraulic functions in the TCU
position instead of the HEIGHT position witch is in the middle position. MJ

this may be a stupid question but I'm new to David Brown tractors but is the TCU the knob that's below the controls for the 3 pt arms??

Do what Joe Stewart said. Then either print the manual out of get a hard copy. You also will want to find and bookmark the David Brown tractor club site. They have lots of info and experience with the DB's. You have a great tractor, you just need to learn how to use it. :D

Ok I changed the selector switch and now it won't let me lower the brush hog all the way to the ground.. what should I try next

There are 3 positions on the selector. I don't recall which one lets the arms go to the lowest position. I think it's with the switch pointing "up". There is another position where the arms only go 3/4 of the way down.

Did you get the manual and read it?

Also, when you move the selector, you have to hold the 3 pt lever all the way to the rear so it can switch, should hear a "click" when you do that.

I did read the manual that was posted I have a hard copy ordered to make it a little easier to get through.. I'm thinking that I may still have it in the wrong position I have it in the "height" position which is in the middle. I will be out at the my land in the next couple days and I will try it again.
