What holds an SC gas tank in place?

Pulled the hood off my '53 SC. Noticed the gas tank just sits there. If it were not for the feed line and sediment bowl, I could pick it up and walk off with it. Is the hood the only thing that holds it in place? I do see a piece of non-metallic material under it on the rear but nothing but metal between tank top and underside of hood. I have some gasket material I'll use in there to keep metal from rubbing.
Otherwise just put the hood back on to hold it I guess.
Thoughts?

I noticed the same thing on my SC when I took the tank off a few weeks ago. It surprised me also but I suppose it's not really going anywhere.

On a side note, my sediment bowl is leaking gas around the threads where it screws into the tank... Was wondering if there's some sort of gasket or what do you guys use to seal it up?

On all my tapered pipe thread fuel lines I use a product called fuelube. Commonly available from your local aircraft mechanic.
