VC distributor

If your having trouble timing it a picture will not help you much if any since one can put it in where even one wants and not have it right. You need to get the #1 cylinder at TDC the one by the radiator then check where the rotor is pointing and then set up the firing order as such. Also note which way the rotor turns so you know which way the firing order goes. Other things that can cause big problems is a striped distributor gear so the rotor does not stay in the same place so timing is impossible

This is a continental engine, you can't see the piston with #1 spark plug removed. The distributor cap is also unmarked so I don't know which is #1

Does not matter what engine it has there are a few ways to find TDC. One if the simple thump over the #1 plug hole and compression will push you thumb off or a plastic straw test where you put the straw in the #1 plug hole and turn ti over slow and feel it push the straw up. Or fill #1 up with ATF and turn it over by hand and stop when the ATF stops coming out
